Naughty Dog Not So Naughty: Grabs 10 More Awards!

Naughty Dog Breaks The Competition's Neck...(ouch!)

Those Naughty Dogs keep at it, even in the new year! But they haven't been naughty at all. In fact, the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards honored the team with an outstanding 10 awards, including (you guessed it) another Game of the Year. Naughty Dog gives some more details about the event inside...

Straight From The Mouths Of Naughty Dog:

Even though we’ve been out celebrating, this news just can’t wait.

Earlier this evening, eight Naughty Dogs including myself, attended the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony as part of the D.I.C.E. Summit 2010. We didn’t know what to expect, as we were nominated in an unprecedented 15 categories and up against some very worthy games in every category—2009 was an incredible year for gaming as every game nominated was great enough to win an award. But I know we all wanted to win something, to be recognized, with the hope that the members of our industry, the members of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences thought our game was worthy of recognition, hopefully of the Game of the Year kind.

Boy, did they.

We’re proud, honored and exceedingly flattered to have UNCHARTED 2 nab 10 awards this evening:

Game of the Year
Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction
Adventure Game of the Year
Outstanding Achievement in Animation
Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering
Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction
Outstanding Achievement in Story - Original
Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition
Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering
Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design

There will be a better time for a more thoughtful thank you, but we couldn’t wait to tell everyone—thank you to all our fans and community and all our colleagues in the gaming industry for the positive words, the support and the recognition you’ve brought to our studio, our work and our games. It means a lot to us.

Also—a well-deserved congratulations to the many friends and colleagues throughout the industry whose work was nominated or won an award this evening!

We’re not stopping just because we won a crazy number of important awards. We have the great fortune of having an amazing multiplayer community for UNCHARTED 2 that is really important to us. We’ll continue to support that community through our downloadable content and updates to our online modes—however popular or unpopular they may be—to refine UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer and it as awesome as we can.

I have to admit I see more in games then just well...games. There's a lot of artwork, music composition, level design, creative storytelling, and some awesome gameplay (of course, there's even more...). All of this is meshed into one game (or if not, the game sucks - ha!). I really enjoy writing, it is one of my passions, as is artwork. I have found that playing coop with my brothers and friends online has become addictive and something no one should miss out on.

I have never played a game that captured me more than uncharted ever since the early tombraider games. Wow can wait to play uncharted 3. I luved uncharted a lot that I bout the special edition too from a crazy named website called Arzaaq. the continued garnering of awards just goes to show that NaughtyDog really has put out a magnificent product to the gaming community. it will be a task for NaughtyDog to top Uncharted 2 with Uncharted 3. anyhow, these new awards really solidify Uncharted 2's deserving of the GOTY. well done, NaughtyDog. now bring on Uncharted 3....!!!
